BE A LITTLE COY

If a recruiter asks if you’re open to a new opportunity, don’t say, “I’m always open,” because it’ll peg you as a flight risk.

If you WANT to hear about opportunities but don’t want to seem overly eager, say something like, “I’m happy where I am, but I’d be glad to help you network. Can you give me an idea of what you’re looking for? I might know someone who could be a good match.”

If the role sounds intriguing, toss your hat into the ring. If it doesn’t, you look like a total rock star for helping a recruiter network.
