5 More Tips

1. It’s okay to have a 2-page resume!  It really is!

2. Make sure your resume is 100% accurate and that your LinkedIn profile and Job board profiles match your resume exactly, particularly with the starting and ending dates of each employment.

3. Get up, dress up, show up, and do the work. If you’re unemployed and conducting a search then treat your search like your full time job. If you’re currently employed (and just want to be elsewhere) then create a daily or weekly routine that includes job search time.  Whatever your situation, commit to the plan then stick to it.

4. Be kind to everyone. You don’t know what burden they’re carrying.

5. Search for your own name on the internet and check all the results. What you see is what a potential employer will see.

Stories from the trenches…

A job seeker commented: “When you’re trying to play it safe, you’re actually living at zero. Safe” is the least safe place to be since you’re not mentally or physically mobile so you’re too sluggish to get out of the way of danger.”
